Meal Prep Smoothie Packs
Smoothies are a great way to stay on track of your health journey. So I thought I would share with you all some ideas I found and use to get prep for my busy week ahead.
I use plastic Ziploc bags for my DIY freezer smoothie packs. I don’t have a ton of freezer space, so the bags work best. If space isn’t a concern and you want to avoid plastic, quart-size Mason jars or freezer-safe containers will also work.
To make a freezer smoothie pack, fill Ziploc bags or Mason jars, with smoothie ingredients.
I often use:
2 cups fruits (your choice)
1 sliced banana frozen or fresh (for a creamy consistency and sweetness)
1 cup greens (spinach or kale)
1 scoop of vanilla/chocolate protein powder
Below are some amazing ideas if your feeling up to some exciting new recipes via paliohacks. Add these great ingredients with your choice of liquid and protein.
Enjoy your labor!
When you desire a smoothie, remove a package from the freezer, place 1 cup of liquid in the blender (or 1/2 cup liquid and 1/2 yogurt). Pour the fruit in the blender, and blend!
Smoothie packs will keep for several months in the freezer, but are the very best quality when used within 2-4 weeks
A Must know when shopping!
1. Go Seasonal greens they will last longer and taste better.
2. When shopping in a conventional store try to avoid purchasing greens in plastic boxes. Go FreshAlways look at your greens before making a purchase. Look for super fresh greens; not greens with brown spots and slimy leaves that need to be used ASAP!
3. Its ok to buy bananas going bad. Cut those bad babies up and freeze them! Check out our bag of bananas below!
4. Buying fresh fruit or frozen is totally up to you!
If you base your smoothie on protein and healthy fats instead of just sugar, and if you’re one of the people who can feel satisfied on a smoothie all morning, then a smoothie can be a healthy breakfast choice.
So lets prep for the week!
